| Binary™ Cat5e HDMI Extender (Transmitter and Receiver) Need to deliver 1080p over a long distance, but can't use long-run HDMI? No problem. Two Cat5e cables and the Binary™ HD-2CAT-1080P solves your problem. Important Notice: It is recommended that you use conventional RJ45 ends with this product. “EZ end” connectors are not intended for use with HDMI extenders. New National Semiconductor Chipset for Improved Reliability 4-Layer PCB Stack-up - Contrary to 2-layer printed circuit boards, a 4-layer board ensures for better grounding and greater reliability. Double ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) Protection - 2 levels of protection: One at the connector 15kV (air) / 8kV (contact) and a second level at the chipset 8kV (contact). Manual EQ Level Adjustment - Rather than a hit-or-miss approach to adjustments, the EQ Dial on the HD-2CAT-1080P-130 allows you to optimize the signal every time. FCC/CE Compliant. HDMI 1.3 Compliant Meets HDMI 1.3 specification requirements for trouble-free performance in demanding, high-bandwidth applications. Easy to Install The durable low-profile metal cases (less than 1" tall) come equipped with mounting ears for a variety of installation needs. Single, Installer-Friendly Power Supply - No "Wall Warts" Why do we provide a power cord with an in-line transformer? Because no installer wants to try to fit an oversized AC plug in a recessed outlet. And the HD-2CAT-1080P-130 requires power at the receiving end only. Improved Reliability This all-new design incorporates premium components for trouble-free installations. Dimensions: 3.3 in. x 3.6 in. x 0.94 in. (each) - 1.4lbs. Certifications: HDMI 1.3 Compliant, HDCP Compliant Includes: >> HDMI-2CAT-1080P (Transmitter & Receiver) >> 1 Power Supply >> Rubber feet (8x) >> Drywall screws (4x) |

FAQs
- Can I use keystone inserts?
We strongly recommend against using keystone inserts and couplers as this will drastically reduce the distance and reliability of the extenders. CAT5e/6 wires should always be directly connected with an RJ45 when using HDMI Extenders.
- How long should my HDMI cables be?
HDMI cables used on the transmitter and receiver should not exceed 1.0M (3.28 ft). Use high-quality cables that are at least 26 AWG. Longer lengths or thinner diameter may cause dropouts or other performance problems.
- How do I set the EQ to get the best picture?
A distance adjustment is provided to compensate for signal loss over the CAT5e/6. When making adjustments, always begin at 7 (min distance) then start adjusting the rotary switch down one step at a time until the picture and audio are clear. Inappropriate signal level setting may overpower the extender and will shorten the product life significantly. See the technical video here.
- How do I avoid ESD damage?
We recommend making all terminations BEFORE applying power to this device. We also recommend using a surge protector on the power supply. This product has been designed with extensive ESD protection and will survive 15kV (air discharge) and 8kV (contact).
- What is the proper way to terminate my CAT5e/6 cable?
Make sure both CAT5e or CAT6 cables are properly terminated (EIA/TIA-568B is recommended). Watch our termination video here.
- Are there any known issues with BluRay players?
Our testing has found that some Samsung BluRay players (BD-C6900 and BD-P3600) did not work reliable at 130 feet. We recommend you only use these models if the distance is less than 80 feet. If you need longer distances, our B-200-1CAT-HDIR has been tested with these players up to 130 feet. We have found that some BluRay players ship with Deep Color and Auto Resolution turned on by default. We recommend that you turn OFF these features if your CAT5e/6 cable is over 50 feet long.
Hi Peter,
I felt that it was critical that I followed up with you on these baluns. We had some time last week to do some bench testing here at the office. We utilized the following equipment: Samsung 40” LED 1080P display, Integra DTR 40.1 receiver, Samsung BDC6900 blu-ray, and also a Sony BDPN570 blu-ray. We tested all scenarios, dvd’s direct to TV as well as routed and switched through the receiver. We used 720P and 1080P resolution outputs. We tried your 5 wire coax baluns, the snap 2cat5 hdmi baluns, and also the Spectrum HD170 baluns. And[as for] the results, which is the biggest part: Both SNAP baluns 2cat5 and the 5 coax passed 1080p perfectly! We could not get the spectrum to pass 1080p in any way shape or form.
So in a nutshell, thank you for sending the 5 coax baluns, and after the test last week we will be using snap baluns exclusively!
Thanks,
Jay Flath
