Episode® 500 Series In-Ceiling Dual Voice Coil Thin Bezel Speakers with 8 in. Woofers (Each)

This ES-500T thin bezel speaker marries contemporary aesthetics with incredible performance to create a system that appeals to both audiophiles and designers alike. And with its versatile dual voice-coil design, it can be used in a variety of applications where a traditional stereo pair couldn't - like a bathroom or hallway.

A Designer’s Dream
Builders and designers will love how the ES-500T's thin bezel look matches the rest of the décor, such as contemporary low-voltage and "high-hat" lighting. Combined with a bezel that’s up to 1” smaller in diameter than the competition, these speakers virtually disappear into the ceiling. Installation is clean and effortless thanks to a magnetic grill that quickly snaps into place using strong neodymium magnets.

Single Stereo Speaker

Dual voice coil speakers allow for both left and right channels to be emitted from a single speaker - reducing ceiling clutter and overall expense. They're perfect for smaller areas where you want stereo sound or for getting wider coverage using only one speaker. The angled tweeter array creates a wide separation of the stereo signal to fill the room. Each of the two inputs is 8 ohms. If instead of stereo, the application calls for using it as a wide-dispersion mono speaker, the two inputs can be wired in either parallel or series. The resulting impedance is 4 ohms or 16 ohms.

Precision Engineering

In order to rise above the field of mass-produced "put your label here" products, you need competent engineering and quality components. In this 500-series model, our speaker designers have combined the low frequency responsiveness of an 8" injection-molded polypropylene woofer with dual 1" ferro-fluid cooled, fabric dome tweeters. Bringing it all together is a custom 2nd-order crossover network that ensures precise performance each and every time.

Tweeter Compensation Switches

In custom audio installations, no two rooms are alike. Floor coverings, drapes, windows and furniture all impact how a speaker sounds in a room. With the ES-500T, you can quickly and independently adjust each tweeter's output by 3db to compensate for rooms with more or less sound absorbing materials.

Pivoting Tweeter

Bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, common areas – these can all be challenging applications to get the speakers in the right location. Wouldn’t it be “sweet” if you could direct the sound into your favorite listening area? With this speaker you can! Dual tweeters are mounted to a pivoting mechanism that allows you to direct the high frequencies right into the sweet spot.

Installation Ease

With competitive products, slight variations in sheetrock can sometimes leave a gap between the grill and the ceiling. Our unique bezel design and oversized dog toggles close the gap, keeping the speaker firmly planted to the ceiling. Thanks to these "puppies", unwanted resonances are reduced plus you can be sure it's not going anywhere! Gold plated spring terminals mean that even if you're on a ladder… talking to your customer… you can still connect the wires effortlessly.

Frequency Response

The frequency response curve shows the Sound Pressure Level (SPL) at a 1 meter (3.28 feet) distance from the speaker at all frequencies (Freq) in the audible range 20 HZ - 20,000 Hz (20K). It is an indication of how evenly the speaker reproduces the sound from the lowest bass to the highest treble.
