Wire Gauge - A larger surface area improves signal transfer by reducing resistance.

Conductor - Oxygen free cables minimizes oxidation on the surface. Most signal transfer occur on the surface so we want to keep resistance low over its lifetime.

Shield - Additional copper braiding provides extra shielding insurance to minimize any signal disruption entering the cable.

Sleeve - An added nylon sleeve improves cable aesthetics.

Plating - Silver has less resistance than gold which allows signal transfer to be more smooth which reduces signal degredation.

Body - More expensive materials used to improve the image of the connector head (die cast metal connector head on B5 compared to molded plastic on B3).
