Audio - If you are extending a source to a Panasonic television with a B-400-1COAX-HDIR you may have a problem with audio. The video will display correctly, but after a few minutes to a few hours there will be no audio, or garbled audio through the TV speakers. If an AV receiver is used for sound the audio will play without problems.

Extend Your Options

Existing analog TV installations with coaxial cable can now be easily retrofitted to HDMI® distribution systems using the B-400-1COAX. High-def HDMI® signals are delivered up to 400' at full 1080p 60Hz resolution. At up to 3X the distance, this extender is the ideal problem solver for long-distance residential and commercial HDMI® applications.

EMI/ESD Immunity

In some applications, conventional unshielded twisted pair can be susceptible to interference from fans, microwaves and other devices that emit RF noise. Coaxial wire is fully shielded with a metal braid and foil so it is more resistant to EMI. During development, every connection was hit with ESD at 15KV and surges up to 2500V.

Bi-Directional IR

Over the same coax wire, you can easily control DVD players, cable boxes and other source equipment from the TV location. If an automation or remote system is being used, an adapter cable is included to allow control of the TV from the equipment at the head-end. For best performance, use our Episode® IR flashers and receivers.

Installation Ease

A bi-color status LED on the TX and RX units indicate if the unit is receiving power and signal - great for troubleshooting! We've even included a locking power connector to secure power to the unit. No more worries about the customer calling because the power came unplugged! An EDID learning mode ensures the TV and source will always be in sync and operating at the highest resolution.

Audio & Video

  • Why am I having issues when sending the HDMI output of my AVR through an extender?
    Sometimes the built in scaling of an AVR can disrupt the timing of the HDMI signal as it passes through an extender. We recommend that the scaling processor be disabled in the AVR any time an extender is being used in the same signal path.
  • When using an HDMI extender I am seeing "sparkles" in the picture on the display.
    Typically this is caused by long lengths of HDMI cable. We recommend minimizing this length to 1 meter or less.
  • Control & Programming

  • How do I add additional emitters to the single emitter output of the HDMI extender?
    By using an IR1x4 or IR 2x6 block, a mono cable , and as many IRF-1's or -2's as you need to flash each of your connected devices. Connect the mono cable to the flasher out port on the B-200-1CAT-HDIR, connect the mono-stereo adaptor included with the extender to the end of the mono cable, and plug the other end of the adaptor into the receiver port on the IR block.
  • Can I transmit IR signal from a third party controller (e.g. Control 4, Savant, etc.) through the IR ports of the extender?
    Yes. We include an adapter for use with a mono cable carrying the signal. This adapter is placed between a Mono-mini cable coming from a controller's flasher output and the green "IR Receiver" port on the extender.
  • Does the IR on a HDIR series of extenders output on the same end as it is input?
    No. The IR passes from one end to the other but does not output on the same end.
  • Features & Support

  • Does the B-400-1COAX-HDIR allow 3D viewing?
    No, it does not pass 3d or 480p resolutions.
  • Setup & Installation

  • Is it necessary to use 1m or less cables at the transmit & receive ends of the extenders?
    While not critical for proper operation, we strongly recommend 1 meter or shorter, high speed rated HDMI cables. This is to ensure steady picture reproduction and reliability. If any issues arise with longer HDMI cables, change them to 1 meter or less before any other troubleshooting.
  • Can RG59 be used with your coaxial extenders?
    If the RG-59 cable is solid core, and swept to 3 GHz, it can be used at distances up to 200 feet. RG6 quad shield with copper core and BNC connectors (not BNC adapters on a non-BNC connector) is the best cable and connector to use and can carry signal up to 400 feet.
  • Can I use stranded coaxial cables with this extender?
    We recommended that you use solid core coax for all applications relating to the coax series units. We cannot guarantee reliable operation with any stranded cable in place.

2-Year Limited Warranty

This Binary™ product has a 2-year limited Warranty. This warranty includes parts and labor repairs on all components found to be defective in material or workmanship under normal conditions of use. This warranty will not apply to products that have been abused, modified or disassembled. Products to be repaired under this warranty must be returned to Snap One or a designated service center with prior notification and an assigned return authorization number (RA).
