Wave 2 AC permits multiple users to talk to the access point simultaneously (MU-MIMO) and allows the access point to handle more communication, producing less congestion on the network and offering support for higher throughput. - Why do the X10 APs not have band steering?Actually our team does plan on rolling out an advanced band-steering in the near future!
However, in the meanwhile, we have removed our old implementation of band steering from the device to improve the overall stability and interoperability of installs. This is in light of a growing IoT market with more and more client devices choosing their wireless band rather than responding to the AP.
When we release it, our advanced band steering implementation will dynamically adjust for the evolving market. - Does fast roaming work between Legacy APs(500/700) and the new X10 APs?Yes! We are happy to report that fast roaming when enabled should work seamlessly between models.
- Why can't I access the WAP from the default configuration address? (config.an-100-ap-i-n.wap, config.an-300-ap-i-n.wap, config.an-500-ap-i-ac.wap, or config.an-700-ap-i-ac.wap)Check the following things to make sure you are ready for EZ Access:
1. Disconnect any network cables from your computer.
2. Make sure your wireless NIC is set to DHCP mode and has an address on the same subnet as your WAP.
3. Check to be sure the network router has an active DHCP server to give your WAP a new IP address.
4. Connect your computer to the SSID araknis_initial and log in to the GUI by typing config.an-100-ap-i-n.wap, config.an-300-ap-i-n.wap, config.an-500-ap-i-ac.wap, or config.an-700-ap-i-ac.wap into the URL bar. - Why can't I access the WAP from the default configuration address? (config.an-510-ap-i-ac.wap, config.an-810-ap-i-ac.wap)Our team decided during the development process to remove this feature as other access methods are both widely available and more secure than this particular method.
For this reason – please refer to the Quick Start Guide for the standard methods of access (OvrC, DHCP/Static Address). - How do I remove the cable bay door once the AP is fully installed?Good question! Actually, the cable bay door slides off with the unit when you remove it from the bracket. To ensure it doesn’t jettison too quickly – lightly place a hand/finger against the bay door while removing the AP.
- Why are CAT5 jumper cables included in package?These are to ensure ease of install when dealing with thicker gauge cabling, such as CAT6A. Please refer to the QSG for when to use the jumper cables.
- Should band-steering be used on installs involving both Legacy and X10 APs?While technically this can still work, we recommend disabling band-steering across the site when using these two generations of APs together.
- Is my WAP OvrC-ready out of the box?Yes, but we recommend checking for new firmware on OvrC at the beginning of every installation to guarantee that you get all the latest features.
- There are several MAC addresses visible in my WAP interface. Which one do I use to add it to OvrC?Use the “Eth MAC" Address, and not the “2.4G MAC” or “5G MAC”
- What WAP models are OvrC-supported?OvrC supports the 100, 300, 500, 700 and X10 series Araknis Access Points (AN-100-AP-I-N, AN-300-AP-I-N, AN-500-AP-I-AC, AN-700-AP-I-AC, AN-510-AP-I-AC and AN-810-AP-I-AC)
Setup & Installation
2-Year Limited Warranty
Araknis Networks® products have a 2-Year Limited Warranty. This warranty includes parts and labor repairs on all components found to be defective in material or workmanship under normal conditions of use. This warranty shall not apply to products which have been abused, modified, or disassembled. Products to be repaired under this warranty must be returned to SnapAV or a designated service center with prior notification and an assigned return authorization number (RA).
