Quality Components
Exceptional low-frequency responsiveness is made possible in the 500 series thanks to an injection-molded polypropylene woofer. The high-pressure liquid injection process results in a lighter, stronger material that produces clear detailed bass. This model features a unique array consisting of dual ½ fabric tweeters that can be set to fire in-phase (bipole) with one another for direct sound or out of phase (dipole) with one another for diffuse, ambient sound.
Surround Mode Switch
Each speaker can be set in bipole or dipole mode depending on application, room position or personal preference. The listener will experience wide, disperse sound thanks to the twin tweeters firing in different directions. When set as a bipole speaker, both tweeters move identically, providing a "direct" sound. When set as a dipole speaker, the tweeters move in opposite directions, creating a "null" area where the opposing sound waves cancel each other out and wide, diffuse sound that seems to come from everywhere except the speaker itself.
Engineered for Performance
The goal of engineering is to produce a product that is greater than the sum of its parts. Outstanding driver voicing and a specifically engineered 2nd order crossover network ensure precise, responsive performance, and separate this product from mass-produced alternatives.
Build & Sound Quality
We don't over-engineer Episode® speakers just so that they survive bouncing around in your van (although that's important). Our build quality also eliminates one of the most common problems in architectural speaker designs—secondary speaker resonance that “colors” the sound and reduces fidelity. All you'll hear is accurate, detailed sound without the distortion.
