Professional Certified Network Administrator

What's New

The PCNA that Control4 and Pakedge dealers have come to know and love is now available to more pros and now includes updated curriculum, new hardware, and even more best practices.

New Name and Greater Availability

PCNA, which now stands for Professional Certified Network Administrator, was renamed to reflect the brand-agnostic nature of the curriculum that focuses on teaching the networking knowledge needed for technicians to be successful. We've also created a new Araknis version of the certification program to give our dealers more choice. Pros can now choose to complete PCNA using either Pakedge or Araknis networking equipment. Though the curriculum is useful no matter which networking equipment you prefer, using the same equipment that is demonstrated in the course is necessary for exam purposes and for effective learning.

Updated Curriculum

Whether you register for the Pakedge or Araknis version of the training, PCNA offers the same high-quality, industry-specialized curriculum.

The new, enhanced curriculum now includes:

  • More in-depth training with regard to troubleshooting
  • Updated training for wireless design and deployment
  • Instruction on how to utilize remote management and networking to improve installation and service using OvrC
  • New activities to teach IGMP, STP, VLAN set up

If you are currently enrolled in PCNA and working on completing your course work, you have until the end of the year to complete training and get certified. See the FAQ here.

Next Generation Equipment

The equipment used in PCNA has also been updated to include the latest and greatest from Pakedge and Araknis. Depending on which brand you prefer, you can register for either the Pakedge or Araknis version of PCNA and the respective equipment will be sent to you. The curriculum for both is largely the same, but for a quality training experience and exam purposes, it's important to use the same equipment that is used during the course demonstration.
