70-volt systems are low current and high voltage, allowing you to use thinner, less expensive speaker wires. And since 70-volt systems do not have load impedance issues, the system is scalable for just about any application.
The distance between ceiling-mounted speakers should be twice the ceiling height, so four speakers could cover a 40x40 room with a 10-ft ceiling.
It only takes about one watt to produce clearly audible announcements or background music from a speaker about 10 feet away from the listener, and two watts in a noisy environment like a restaurant or grocery store. So, a single 500-watt amplifier could easily run 80 to 90 5-watt speakers, covering a large area for these applications.
